oldguyzer said:The best remedy you can do at home (or buy prepared OTC) is a salicylic acid paste (aspirin dissolved in water to make a thick paste). Make the paste and apply it to the wart. The reason this works is that salicylic acid dissolves keratin (protein) which makes up both the wart and the dead skin around the wart. (Technically, salicylic acid is a keratolytic medication.) The worse that happens on the skin is redness or a small burning sensation, but that can be fixed by washing off the paste and discontinuing use for a few days, then starting again with a more dilute paste.
Vinegar is also an acid (acetic acid) that has some karatolytic properties, but not as much as salicylic acid (vinegar you can buy is only 5% solution, which is pretty mild). Stick with the aspirin paste: your warts don't smell acidic that way!
Some people use the freezing methods using commercially available sprays or mixtures, but it's hit or miss in my experience, and can sting like a sonofabitch.
Thanks for the tips.
