Not sure what your current diagnoses is, but you have now introduced the need for treatment to protect inmates from being murdered by him, but originally you diagnosed him as perfectly fine to rent a van.

Plus, on your claimed legal expertise, there is no death penalty in Canada.

I would also like to point out that Alek Minassian belonged to a group called the INCEL group - a bitter circlejerk of man-children who wants to take revenge on society because women wouldn't fuck them. Sounds like a joke but it isn't; groups like these are very much real, and violent. Fuck he even idolized Elliott Rogers.

In order to address issues like this we need to address the roots of problems in order to prevent another incident like this from happening again, which, in this case, is male entitlement. Patriarchy hurts everyone, and in the case of Alek (who have shown to have a history of being lonesome and solitary) patriarchy poisoned him into thinking that he needed pussy and sex to be a "true man", and by feeling self-inadequacy he used violence and mass-murder as a coping strategy. Young men need to be taught how to properly react to rejection and how to develop enough self confidence so their self worth will not be based upon how much pussy or sex they receive.

those with Asperger’s give themselves self-imposed driving restrictions bc they want to avoid overstimulating environments e.g. bright sun, highways—there are no legal limitations for ASD that i’m aware of as long as they are medically cleared. there are so many things even “normal” people have to be medically cleared for before driving, even if you’ve fainted in the past year from dehydration. they are still able to rent and drive like anyone else and are actually super intelligent in one particular area. i knew an amazing surgeon with Asperger’s.

I know what it's like to be rejected by friends and social settings and I can totally relate to the feeling of helplessness and lonesomeness which can result in us eating away in the inside. By NO means am I defending Alek's actions but when it comes to understanding why crimes like these exist we have to get to the root of the problem both to understand a) why it occurs and b) how to prevent it from happening again in the future. Killers are not made out of a vacuum; they do so because there's a motivation for it, and by addressing said motivation we can help mitigate incidents like this from happening in the future.

Alek mass murdered people because he had internalized misogyny and toxic masculinity. Men with Asperger's are prone to developing this toxic mentality because they are affected by peer pressure a lot more, because by being social outcasts, they see other men (either in real life or through media) with plenty of women to fuck, and they themselves want to be like them or else they think their lives are not complete. This is not to say that non-Asperger's people don't develop it because they develop it as well. But the reason why he committed the mass murder was NOT because of his Asperger's, but rather, because of his internalized toxic masculinity.

This is what happens if we don't take issues like toxic masculinity or violence against women seriously in society. We need to teach young men how to handle rejection well, how to respect women as human beings as opposed to trophies, and how to fight against all the problematic sexist stereotypes in media so we wouldn't poison young men with the idea that their worth is solely depended on how much women they fuck. Alek's mind was clearly poisoned by toxic masculinity, and so are a bunch of men right now in society. ANY of these guys have a chance of doing the same crime Alek is doing; the only way to prevent it is through education.

From interviews of people who knew him at school say they are surprised he was even able to drive a van because of his disabilities.

So how the hell did he rent a van ?

Of coarse there is always the possibility he stole it, but something doesn't seem right here.

Feels like you're doing nothing but scapegoating people with disabilities. Why does it matter how he got a van? It seems like you're trying to target disabled people as those who "shouldn't ever own a van" because according to you, only disabled people are capable of committing crimes like this. You're missing the point. By understanding why the killer mass murdered people it'll allow us to recognize patterns in the future to prevent another incident like this from happening again. I couldn't care less about Erik but what I do care is how people like Maurice is using his disability as nothing more than a scapegoat so I care about the marginalized disabled people who are being vilified.
